Every year, Earth Day serves as a powerful reminder of the responsibility we all share as citizens of this planet. It’s a day to reflect on our environmental impact and take deliberate steps toward safeguarding our home for future generations.
At TP, we've embraced this responsibility and have been making tangible strides to reduce our environmental footprint and protect the environment. Through our Citizen of the Planet (COTP) initiative which we launched in 2008, we’ve set a blueprint for sustainable, environmentally conscious business practices. This year, we're proud to share the progress we've made on our sustainability goals as we join the world in observing global Earth Day 2025. Here’s what we’ve accomplished recently as part of our efforts to protect the planet:
- Scope 1 and 2 emissions decreased -9% in 2024 vs. 2023, – 49% vs 2019 baseline (now absolute figures, no longer per FTE figures)
- 46.8% renewable energy in total electricity consumption
- Total GHG emissions (Scope 1, 2, and 3) decreased -12% in 2024 vs. 2023, -17% vs. 2019 baseline
- 64.1k computers and phones were recycled or repurposed through take-back programs in 2024
- 21% of our top 100 strategic suppliers have committed to Science-Based Targets for environmental sustainability
This year’s Earth Day theme, “Our Power, Our Planet,” is a rallying cry to transition towards renewable energy and amplify global efforts against climate change. With the hope of increasing clean electricity generation by 2030, the theme highlights the renewable revolution as a collective mission for everyone.
At TP, we take this mission seriously. Our vision for a Net Zero future by 2040 remains firm, and we’re determined to inspire others to join us in building a sustainable tomorrow. COTP thrives on collaboration, working alongside communities and partners to innovate and implement measures for conserving resources and combating climate change. And we don’t just stop here—we actively lead programs worldwide that resonate with the urgency of protecting our planet.
In the Philippines, we’ve implemented a variety of climate actions to reduce emissions, conserve energy, and engage communities in sustainability initiatives across 27 operational sites in the country. Here are some standout achievements from our teams in the Philippines:
Significant CO₂ reductions: TP sites in Sucat and Bacolod achieved a reduction of 2,033 and 2,729 metric tons of CO₂.
Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) Efficiency: TP also achieved a reduction of 1,495 metric tons of carbon emissions in the Philippines through an uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) upgrade activity.
ISO-Certified Green Operations: TP earned ISO 14001 certification for Environmental Management Systems and ISO 45001 for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems from Société Générale de Surveillance (SGS).
Reduced Energy Consumption through Earth Hour: Observing an hour of lights-off across our sites saved 27,123 kWh of energy and reduced emissions by 19.2 metric tons of CO₂ in one year.
Together, we can turn sustainability from a goal into a way of life. Learn more about TP’s COTP and discover how it’s creating change, one action at a time.
