TP supporting UNICEF: Empowering the next generation of women in technology

Clementine Gauthier-Medina, SVP of Sustainability at TP - 04.29.2026

International Women's Day serves as a pivotal moment for the global community to reflect on the need for gender equality while also acknowledging the work that still lies ahead for women and girls everywhere. It marks a vital time to talk about the fundamental rights of women and the persistent challenges that many continue to face.

Progress has certainly been made in recent decades, yet millions of women still encounter discriminatory laws and social norms that limit their opportunities. Approximately 122 million girls currently remain outside the formal education system, a situation that becomes even more critical in crisis environments. In crisis situations, these girls are nearly 2.5 times more likely to drop out of school than their peers. Furthermore, legislation in many countries still permits early marriage, a practice that jeopardizes the future of nearly 12 million girls every year. These statistics highlight the importance of dedicated support and systemic change to protect the rights of the next generation.

No one left behind: Empowering women and girls

We celebrate the incredible potential of women and work to create a world where every girl has the resources to succeed.

Thanks to the support of its partners like TP, UNICEF’s programs have driven educational initiatives that utilize technology to empower young learners in Ghana. These initiatives emphasize the importance of digital skills as a primary driver for reducing gender disparities in both education and the workforce.

The impact of these programs is evident through the success of the “Ghana Learning Passport,” which has provided literacy and numeracy instruction to hundreds of users. 97% of teachers involved in the program have confirmed the usefulness of these digital tools in their daily instruction. The UNICEF Start-Up Lab has fostered significant innovation by supporting various startups across STEM and robotics. The development of online child protection resource guidelines has also reached thousands of teachers and students in many junior high schools.

The integration of Information and Communication Tools (ICT) into the classroom also provides learners with the essential skills required for the modern economy. For girls in Ghana in particular, access to safe and high-quality digital education helps overcome traditional barriers, including early marriage and unequal access to learning resources. By expanding their aspirations, these programs create new pathways for professional growth.

These efforts contribute to a stronger education system that ensures girls are not excluded from digital transformation.

Advancing gender equity

These awards reflect a consistent dedication to fostering inclusive environments and protecting the rights of all employees.

TP remains dedicated to supporting UNICEF and advancing the rights of girls globally. On International Women's Day, the focus remains on creating a world where every girl has the tools and the opportunity to thrive.
